As urban areas account for approximately 70% of global CO₂ emissions, the role of municipalities is critical in achieving national and international climate targets. However, despite the potential of CCUS to mitigate emissions from hard-to-abate sectors located in or near cities, municipal involvement remains limited.
In this webinar, Inna Zhuravlova, Research Associate and Project Manager at Fraunhofer IAO, will examine the role municipalities can play in advancing Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) as part of comprehensive urban climate strategies. Drawing on insights from EU-wide municipal surveys, stakeholder interviews, and best-practice examples, she will highlight actionable pathways for local governments to integrate CCUS into their net-zero roadmaps.
When: 29 April 2025, 12:00 – 12:40
