The implementation of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies in the cement industry is crucial for achieving near-zero emissions production processes. However, since CCS technologies are capital-intensive and come with elevated operational expenditures, their deployment faces significant market and investment barriers, as well as requiring coordination for infrastructure development. In addition, since CCS involves capture, transportation, and storage, its deployment relies on national and regional regulatory frameworks.
In this webinar, Anna Hörbe Emanuelsson, PhD Candidate at the Chalmers University of Technology, will explore these challenges and assess the state of readiness of the European Union (EU) for implementing CCS technologies in the cement industry.
When: 22 April 2025, 12:00 – 12:40
Presenter: Anna Hörbe Emanuelsson (Chalmers University of Technology)
