When: 29 January 2025, 10:00 – 13:00 CET
Where: SINTEF Brussels Office, Rue Guimard 9, 1000 Brussels
The EU is committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. One of the means of achieving this target will be the new EU Clean Industrial Deal, which will seek to enable the decarbonisation of European energy-intensive industries without compromising international competitiveness.
For several industries, including cement, CO2 capture and storage (CCS) is the only option for decarbonisation. Furthermore, balancing remaining hard-to-abate emissions will require high-quality carbon removals. This can be achieved through implementing CCS in industries such as pulp and paper and waste to energy.
However, CCS’ potential hinges on simultaneous and large-scale development across the entire value chain: from wide-scale deployment of CO2 capture projects, to coordination of transport infrastructure, and maturation of CO2 storage.
The EU-funded project ACCSESS is delighted to invite you to an open event exploring how industry and policymakers can cooperate to meet the ambitions of the Clean Industrial Deal. ACCSESS partners Stora Enso, Heidelberg Materials and Hafslund Oslo Celsio will share their perspectives on the balance between decarbonisation and cost.
The event will set the scene for CCS in Europe, with industry, CCS experts and decision-makers addressing:
- How can we create a predictable investment environment for industries along the CCS chain?
- How to scale up from single front-runner projects to deployment based on long-term and robust financial models?
After the event you are welcome to join us for lunch with opportunities for further, informal discussions.
Mark the date in your calendar and stay tuned for more information on event registration and programme.
We hope to see you in Brussels on January 29th!
